Free image compressor and resizer

Compress and resize an image in your browser.

Choose a picture, set its output size and format, then compare the result before saving. The tool processes the selected file on this device.

Compress or resize an image

Your image stays in this browser. No upload, account or payment is required.

One image at a time. Maximum input: 20 MiB and 20 megapixels. Maximum output: 4096 pixels on either side.

The original aspect ratio is kept. Images are never enlarged beyond their original dimensions.

Quality changes JPEG and WebP encoding. PNG uses lossless encoding; this slider does not reduce PNG file size.

JPEG fills transparent areas with white. PNG and WebP can keep transparency. Output is a still image; PNG/WebP animation is not preserved. Metadata is not copied; check the exported image before sharing.

How to use it

Choose dimensions and format, then judge the result.

One input at a time, up to 20 MiB and 20 megapixels. Output is limited to 4096 pixels per side without enlarging the original. Source metadata is not copied, and JPEG uses white behind transparent areas.

  1. Choose one still JPEG, PNG, or WebP picture.

  2. Set the width or height while keeping its aspect ratio. Choose an output format and applicable quality setting.

  3. Create the image and compare dimensions, actual bytes, and the visual preview.

  4. Download an acceptable version and keep the original.

Common questions

Know what the tool can and cannot do.

Are my pictures uploaded?

The image tool processes selected files in your browser; it does not upload the image. The website loads its own assets and uses page and tool analytics without sending file names or image contents.

Which image formats can I use?

Start with a still JPEG, PNG, or WebP image. Available output formats depend on this browser. HEIC, RAW, SVG, and animated image conversion are outside this tool’s supported workflow.

Will the output always be smaller?

No. File size depends on the picture, dimensions, chosen format, and encoding settings. Compare the reported input and output sizes. Keep the original if a new file is larger or loses useful detail.

Does the tool edit my original?

No. Download creates a separate file. The original selected file is not overwritten, and this tool cannot scan or delete an iPhone photo library.

Can I preserve a transparent background?

Use a format that supports transparency and check the output preview. JPEG cannot keep a transparent background; conversion to JPEG uses a solid background.

Why does a file fail to open?

The browser must be able to decode it, and the tool enforces the limits shown beside its file picker. Try exporting a still JPEG or PNG from your photo app, or choose a smaller image.

When you need an app

Prepare one picture, or organize a photo library.

This tool prepares a selected file. For duplicate review, similar pictures, and photo categories, explore AI Cleaning. For dual-camera capture and creation, explore TwoPic. The webpage does not scan your photo library.
